Moakley (Columbus) Park, South Boston

From 93 South:
Take Exit 18 and keep following signs for Andrew Square/S. Bay Center. When you come to a traffic light with Fortress Storage building directly in front of you, bear right, following sign for Boston St./Andrew Sq./Edward Everett Sq. The road curves sharply to the right and then to the left. At stop sign take a left. At the next traffic light (5-way intersection) take the soft right onto Preble Street (between Andrew Square Convenience and Syrena Travel.) Follow directions "from Preble Street" below.

From 93 North:
Take Exit 16 (Southampton St./Andrew Sq.) At traffic light at end of ramp take a right. At the next traffic light (Dunkin Donuts will be on your left) go straight across and you will be on Preble Street. Follow directions "from Preble Street" below.

From Downtown Boston (non-highway route):
From Financial District/Post Office Square take Congress Street towards wharf district/Ted Williams Tunnel. Go over bridge, past Boston Tea Party ship, Children's Museum, Milk Bottle, etc. At traffic light take a right onto "A" Street. Go straight through three traffic lights and then take a left at T building onto Dorchester Ave. Go straight through one set of lights, at next traffic light keep to the right staying on Dorchester Ave. After three more traffic lights (just after Lil' Peach and Andrew T station at 5-way intersection) take a left onto Preble Street (between Andrew Square Convenience and Syrena Travel.) Follow directions "from Preble Street" below.

By MBTA:
Take the Red Line to the Andrew stop. When you come out of the station, cross intersection and proceed down Preble Street (between Andrew Square Convenience and Syrena Travel.) Follow directions "from Preble Street" below.

FROM PREBLE STREET:
Go straight down Preble Street until stop sign at rotary - proceed around the rotary to the left and you'll pass a long building with a green sign in front of it that says "Moakley Park." Park on the right side of the road just past this building, next to the baseball fields -- our field is located away from the road between two baseball fields.

Here is an alternate set from the South Shore:
Take the Morrissey Blvd Exit. (I think it is 14 or 15). Follow Morrissey for several miles - you will pass BC High. About 1/4 mile after BC High, the road will split - the right is lower, the left goes up to a Rotary. Bear left up to the Rotary. Go 1/2 around and exit the Rotary, keeping fields on your right. Follow for about 1/2 mile, still keeping fields and jungle gyms, etc, on your right. You will come to another mini rotary. Picture that you approach this mini rotary from 5:00, so exit at 1:00 (basically, you are kind of by passing this rotary. Just past this (25 yards) you will see fields on your right. Park on the road.

More complex, but more detailed

Even though it's right between major streets in Cambridge (Western and River), beware, you can't see if from those streets. The easiest way to get there -- from Memorial Drive, turn east onto River St (left turn if you're coming from Harvard and the burbs, right turn if you're coming from MIT/Boston). Going East on River St., take your 2nd left onto Putnam. Then, take your next right onto a tiny street, which will take you to the park.

Alternatively, if you're coming from Mass Ave, head South on Prospect (towards the River). Stay towards the right on Prospect, which will become Western Ave. Go 7 or so blocks on Western, past Jay St. and Howard St. At the next small street, Gillmore or Bancroft, go left. That will take you to the park. If you miss these streets and hit Putman, go left and take your first left to get to the park. If you hit Memorial Drive, you've gone too far.
