MIT Briggs Field, Cambridge

MIT's official website directions

via Public Transportation - MBTA ("The T")

Subway: By train, take the Red Line to the Kendall/MIT Station or to the Central Square Station, both of which are a short walk from the campus. The walk from Central Square takes about 10 minutes and takes you right down Massachusetts Avenue. The Kendall/MIT Station is on the edge of the east end of campus, the Athletic fields are located on the West end of campus on Vassar St.

Bus: The #1 or Dudley bus stops at MIT on Massachusetts Avenue and provides transportation to Central Square and Harvard Square. The MIT stop is at a large crosswalk with a stop light. One one side of the street are steps leading up to large Ionic columns and the Small Dome of MIT, on the other side of the street is the Stratton Student Center and Kresge Oval (an open, grass-covered area). Walk past the Student Center and you will hit the athletic fields on Vassar St.

From the North (I-95 or I-93)

If you are heading south on I-93, follow I-93 into Boston then follow the I-93 instructions below. If you are heading south on I-95, take the I-93 South exit then follow the instructions from I-93. Alternatively, take the I-90 East exit from I-95 then follow the instructions from I-90.

From the South (I-95 or I-93)

If you are heading north on I-93, follow I-93 (the Southeast Expressway) into Boston then follow the I-93 instructions below. If you are heading north on I-95, take the I-93 North exit then follow the instructions from I-93. Alternatively, take the I-90 East exit from I-95 then follow the instructions from I-90.

From the West (I-90) (Mass Turnpike)

Follow I-90 east to the Cambridge/Brighton exit (exit 18). Following the signs to Cambridge, cross the River Street Bridge, and continue straight about 1 mile to Central Square. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue and follow Massachusetts Avenue for about a half mile. Take a right onto Vassar St. If you cross the river again, you have gone too far. The fields will be on your on Vassar St.

From Route I-93

From I-93, take exit 26, and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive West, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A. The exit will be on the left, just before the Harvard Bridge (more appropriately called the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge). The Charles River will be on your right. As you cross the bridge, you will be looking at MIT - the Great Dome and academic facilities are on the right, the dormitories and athletic facilities are on the left. Take a left onto Vassar St and the fields will be on your left.

Peach Street Fields, Braintree

Peach Street field - WHUF's "home" field
South Middle School, 232 Peach Street, Braintree, MA 02184

FROM CAPE COD
 (about 1:15 from Woods Hole)
OPTION #1:  Take route 3 north to Weymouth.  Get off at exit 16.  Take route 18 south a short distance (1/2 mile).  Turn right onto West Street (on left it's Middle Street) and follow into Braintree.  West Street meets Columbian, stay right.  It becomes Grove Street.  Turn left at lights onto Liberty Street (there's a gas station with bathrooms on the left, a convenience store on the right, and a supermarket diagonally across the intersection).  Take about the 4th right off Liberty (you'll see the school before the turn) onto Peach Street. The South Middle School is immediately on the right.  Park in the lot just before the building.

OPTION #2:  Take route 3 north to Braintree. Get off at exit 17/Union Street (it's the exit for the Braintree T station).  Go around the rotary (under the highway) and take the next exit, towards the T station.  Take a left at the lights - the T station will be on your right. Follow that road a mile or two (through a few sets of lights) until it ends and comes to a 'T' at a set of lights.  Turn right at the lights onto Plain Street. After a short distance (maybe 1/4 mile), you will come to another set of lights at an intersection.  Turn left at the lights onto route 37.  After about 3/4 mile, there will be a blinking yellow light - take that left onto Peach Street.  The South Middle School is about 1/4 mile up on the left.  Park in the lot just past the building.

FROM PROVIDENCE
(about 1:00 from Providence)  These directions avoid route 128 (important at rush hour).
Route 95 north to route 495 south (exit 6 off 95?) to 24 north (exit 7A off 495)
Take route 139 east off 24 (exit 20) and continue for 3.7 miles.
Left onto route 37 north for 2.4 miles.  Right off 37 onto Peach Street.
The South Middle School is about 1/2 mile up Peach Street on the left.
Field is behind the school.  Park in the lot just past the building.

FROM THE EAST (Boston)

Continue on to "Braintree Five Corners."
There will be a Dunkin Donuts on your right, and a Bertucci's basically right in front of you.
Stay on route 37, which is sort of a "straight-left" - keep Bertucci's on your immediate right.
Follow route 37 for about 1 mile (through a few more sets of lights) until you get to another set of lights (a pretty major intersection): there will be another Dunkin Donuts on your left, and a Chinese restaurant on the right.
Take a right, which is still route 37.
About 3/4 mile up the road is a flashing yellow light; take that left onto Peach Street.
The South Middle School is about 1/2 mile up on the left.
Field is behind the school.  Park in the lot just past the building.
FROM THE SOUTH (Dedham)
Take route 128 north to route 37 exit (toward Braintree).
FOLLOW "DIRECTIONS FROM ROUTE 37" ABOVE.

FROM THE WEST (Worcester)
Take Mass Pike (route I-90) east to route 128 south.
Follow route 128 through Dedham, Canton, and Randolph to Braintree
DO NOT TAKE ROUTE I-95 SOUTH TOWARDS PROVIDENCE!
Take the route 37 exit toward Braintree.
FOLLOW "DIRECTIONS FROM ROUTE 37" ABOVE.

VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Take the T to the Braintree station (1 Ivory Street).  The fields are 2 1/2 miles from the T.
