As I edited the master database list of teams, entering new registrations and deleting old ones, it seemed like I was removing just as many teams (if not more) than I was adding. Where do these teams go, why don't they survive more than a few years? Lack of institutional support and awareness of Ultimate among students are likely the biggest contributing factors. Getting more people playing at your school can really help ensure the long-term survival of your team. BUDA supports this through its Youth Program.
YP educators are available (in Eastern Mass. and southern NH) to go to your schools and run clinics for PE classes, or to even just help Health and Fitness teachers learn the game and run an effective, fun Ultimate unit.More kids playing in PE = more potential recruits for your team!
More adults who are aware of how great Ultimate is = greater support for your team!
