UPA Rostering

SUBMITTING A ROSTER TO THE UPA

You need to:
1) Have everyone on the team open up a UPA account.  They do this online at www.upa.org.  Within a few hours of signing up, they will be sent a password.  They then go to (“Member Login”), type in their password, and then get their UPA number.

2) Build a roster.  You’ll need to:
a. Log in to your UPA account
b. Click on “online rostering”
c. Go to “create a new roster”
d. Then “proceed with roster creation”
e. You will have a choice of “sponsored events” or “sanctioned events” – choose “sanctioned events.”  (For Div 1 and Girls championships, you would choose the other.)
f. Look for the BUDA HS League on the list of events (it’s about 2/3 of the way down the list), click on it, and start entering your roster.  The next time you log on it will show you as an organizer of this team, you can click right on it to edit the list or check the status of players.

3) Get waivers and payments to the UPA.  Your roster will probably show up as having members who are not current (haven’t paid), and/or who have not submitted waivers for this year.  Your team members can pay online and send in their own waivers, although it might be easier for you to have them submit their waivers and checks to you, and then you send them all to the UPA at once.  This just gives you a little more control over the process, since you will know who has and who hasn’t complied.  Some teams make submitting a waiver mandatory for tryouts or first practices.

DIVISION 2 teams:  Your players have the choice of joining the UPA ($20) or paying a one-time fee of $5.  It may seem cheaper in the short run to do the latter, but keep in mind that they will be required to pay this $5 fee every time they participate in a UPA-sanctioned event (such as Div 2 championships, fall hat league), so it might be easier just to join.

4) Send in a chaperone form.  Every team must have an adult send in a chaperone form.

5) Links to forms:
a. Kids who want to pay the one-time fee need to fill out this form: http://www.upa.org/files/2008EventFee&WaiverForm.pdf
b. Those that want to join the UPA fill out this form: http://www.upa.org/files/2008MembershipWaiverForm.pdf
c. One more form that they will need: http://www.upa.org/files/Medical_Authorization_Form_V1.5.pdf.  Don’t send it in, but keep it handy, it’s a good thing to have just in case
d. Chaperone form: http://upa.org/files/Chaperone_Form_V3.0.pdf

If this seems like a lot of work – you’re right it is!  However, at least now you are done for the year.  If your team participates in any other UPA sanctioned or sponsored event, you can simply have the roster copied over to that event.

YOU HAVE UNTIL MONDAY, APRIL 7 TO SUBMIT AT LEAST A PARTIAL ROSTER (7 PLAYERS).    YOUR TEAM WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR POST-SEASON PLAY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THIS DEADLINE.
