Hall of Fame
Before BUDA was formed there was a thriving Corporate League and a nascent Summer (Hat) League. The first directors of SCL (Corporate League) were Jane and Bob Evans, to whom we all owe a big tip of the hat. Summer League was run by different people for a few years before BUDA took it over. The names I've heard are Sue Burke, Edwin (Stick) Dissosway, Mark Ide, and Ken White. While this was a less formal league, it played a big role in the formation of BUDA, so once again we should express our gratitude for their work and foresight.

In 1990, Bruce Jacobson (regional coordinator) and Kathy Rowe persuaded Raphael Savir that there was a need for an Ultimate organization in the Boston area that would in some ways mimic the role that the UPA had nationally. That is, to be an umbrella organization. We could run leagues, tournaments, charity events, etc. We could pull players from various teams, players who otherwise might not band together to accomplish any of these things. BUDA was formed that year, and incorporated in 1992. Raphael Savir was the first President, and remained President until 2004.

Other key players in the founding of BUDA were Anne Murray and Denis Proulx. Anne was instrumental in helping us craft an appropriate mission statement. Denis handled all of our paperwork and tax filings for years, and gave us key insights into how to organize and run leagues. Without Denis, we never could have become incorporated and gone on to become a larger and more complex organization.

Pablo Martinez managed our first databases, and did so for many years. Anyone who remembers receiving a BUDA flyer/application for a league owes Pablo a big thank you.

There were many people who played vital roles in the following years. We had vigorous league commissioners, without whom our leagues could not have been successful, and we had brilliant captains, without whom our leagues wouldn't have been fun.

Thank you to everyone who helped make BUDA a success.  (Contributed by R. Savir Winter 2008).
