| GM Fall Club/Draft League |
|
Are you an older Ultimate player looking to play recreationally or semi-competitively this Fall? BUDA is going to pilot a Grand Masters division (men 40+, women 35+) this Fall, and you can sign up as an individual, with some buddies, or as a team. Below are instructions for players and captains. All this information will be posted on the buda website http://www.buda.org/hatleagues/index.php?fcl and updates will be made there starting in early August.
PLAYER INFO1) Register If you have several friends who want to be the nucleus of a team, then register your team and pay via paypal (see CAPTAIN INFO, below). Otherwise you can sign up individually. Your name will be included in the draft (see below). To be eligible, men must be 40+ years old by the end of the calendar year, women must be 35+ by EOY. You will have to register on the buda site and print/sign/fax your buda waiver. 2) Draft. Once registration has closed, we will conduct a draft to place everyone onto teams. The draft is tentatively scheduled for August 27. 3) Games. Your captain will be given a schedule (probably 6 games) running from early September through mid-October. Games are at 8 PM on Fridays at English HS in JP, per feedback we received over the Spring and Summer from GM players. 4) Tourney. We will try to have the GM division co-located with the MIXED or the OPEN division at the tournament. So if you are planning on playing in two divisions, keep in mind that you may have to choose between your teams at the tournament. Other notes for PLAYERS: - This league/division is a big experiment. We ran a GM division at Easterns in June and had 8 teams! We'd like to continue running leagues and events for this demographic if the desire is out there. So feel free to give us feedback! But most important, if you have fun playing in this division then step up to help out in 2009. The organizers are only putting this pilot together for one season. After that, it's up to you. - BUDA Fall Club League takes team payment, not individual payment. Therefore, you will have to coordinate with your teammates to pay the team fee. It usually works out to about $25/player for the season. CAPTAIN INFO1) Register. You can sign up a whole team or just part of a team. If part of a team, then you'll use the draft (below) to finish out your roster. You will be contacted via email with draft details. If you'll be out of touch for whatever reason, please provide additional email or other contact information. 2) Draft. Once the registration has been closed, we will conduct a draft (tentatively on August 27th) so that captains can finish out their rosters. For example, if you bring a team of 6 players, you might draft (or be assigned) 9 more players to make a full team. The draft will likely be conducted in a friendly pub. Only captains need to attend the draft. 3) Games. Once teams have been formed, you will be given a schedule (probably 6 games) running from early September through mid-October. Games are likely to be on Fridays, per feedback we received over the Spring and Summer from GM players. 4) Tourney. We will try to have the GM division co-located with the MIXED or the OPEN division at the tournament. So if you are planning on playing in two divisions, keep in mind that you may have to choose between your teams at the tournament. Other notes for CAPTAINS: - The GM division will be 5/2. Please recruit accordingly.
