Sign up for qualifiers - they start next Saturday

Qualifiers for BUDA's New England High School League start this weekend to determine which teams should be awarded three of the floating bids. I'd like to clarify a couple points:

We have 48 spots open at all the tournaments - 16 at each.

There are 2 divisions at each tournament. A championship division - 8 Massachusetts teams vye for one bid to the Massachusetts State Tournament; a recreational division - 8 teams from any state participate in a tournament for fun and experience.

Any team can submit a bid for any division. In the past, we have been able to accommodate every team that has wanted to participate. Some teams use this opportunity to give less experienced players the chance to improve. Others use this as just another tournament for their team. Please feel free to submit more than one bid to more than one tournament. Hopefully we can fill all 48 spots.

To submit a bid to qualifiers this year, please fill out the form at www.buda.org/highschool/bid.htm. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

---May 9th, 2006---
RECORD YOUR GAME RESULTS HERE!!

There are many games that are not being recorded on the BUDA site but rather on the UPA site using the Score Reporting Tool. Using the UPA's Score Reporter is fine - but in order for us to properly determine who the winners are from each region in Massachusetts, the scores need to be reported on the BUDA website. Massachusetts teams have until Saturday, May 13th to reconcile your results - at that point determinations will be made based on the information listed on the results page. You can report your scores using the Score Reporting Form.

More information on qualifiers and the commissioner's bid will be posted later this week. Submit your bids if you haven't done so already!

---May 5th, 2006---
SUBMIT YOUR BID TO QUALIFIERS!

To submit a bid to qualifiers this year, please fill out the form at www.buda.org/highschool/bid.htm. The cost is $50/spot - please mail checks to:

BUDA
PO Box 725
Littleton, MA 01460

Two divisions:
Championship Division: Only Massachusetts teams can request to be in this division of the qualifiers. The winner of this division for each qualifier will be awarded a bid to the Massachusetts State Championship Tournament.
Recreational Division: Any team in the league can request to be in this division. It is meant to provide exposure and playing time to those teams that did not get much of it during the season.

In the past, we have always been able to accomodate any team that requests to be in the qualifier. I hope we can continue that this year - but it may not be the case. The deadline for bid submission is Saturday, May 13th.

More details about the individual qualifiers will be posted soon.

---April 27th, 2006---
QUALIFIER DATES ANNOUNCED

There will be three qualifiers this year - two in the east and one in the west.

Saturday, May 20th - Greenfield (rain date, May 21st)
Saturday, May 27th - Mitre Fields, Burlington
Sunday, May 28th - Mitre Fields, Burlington

Details on the application process will be posted soon.

Captains/Coaches, please check the team list to make sure your contact info is accurately displayed. The score reporter is up and running. Just go to the results page in order to enter your game scores. A few points to note...

QUALIFIER/BID INFO

We are still in the planning stages for the qualifier tournaments, but it looks as though we will hold three qualifier tournaments this year - the winner of each being awarded a bid to the Championships. Dates for the qualifier tournaments are TBA. Four other bids will be awarded to the winner of each region. Region winners will be determined by counting in-region games, only. The last remaining bid will be decided by the commissioner. Additionally, the championships will be held on Sunday, June 4th at Fort Devens.

If you have questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it and I’ll try to answer them in a timely manner.
